Welcome to April / Spring / Mother Goose / Purple!

Look at that wonderful 'line' - great job!
Mother Goose visits!
Painting a 'cocoon' for our butterfly cycle.

Painting at the table - great job sharing!

This week in preschool, we continued talking about the life cycle of a butterfly, Mother Goose came to visit and we enjoyed playing with our purple (color of the month) ribbons at circle time.
The children brought home their Rainbow books - we covered over many weeks different Spring time weather, then compiled them into our weather books. We also read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle and had music, art, and circle time activities tied into this lesson. Both of these books introduce sequencing to the children (what comes next). Sequencing is a precursor to early literacy skills at this age. We have read many of the Eric Carle books in class that all use sequencing. It is so interesting to watch the children learn our routines and know what is coming next! Also, through repetition of these books and the context of these books - the children can repeat them to you at home! The children loved making their own caterpillars and butterflies. I loved hearing the "ooh's" and "ahh's" as we turned the last page of the book that showed the beautiful butterfly! We read the story a couple of times and by the second time, the children could already guess what was coming next! These children are amazing!

Wednesday Fun in March!

Mother Goose came to our class today. She brought a little green friend! Ask your child to sing you the Leprechaun song. We had a lot of fun with Mother Goose, we went to music class, finished up some art projects, and then celebrated with Alden for his Birthday!Remember to ask your child to sing to you, the "choo choo song". They love it!
See you all on Friday! Don't forget to wear your "green"!

Our Last Birthday of the Year! Alden turns 2!

We celebrated big today in class! Alden is our last classmate to turn 2 and we had such fun! We loved the yummy cupcake cones and were so busy! We had a visit from Mother Goose, Music Class (we're getting ready for our big show in May!). We were so busy we didn't even make it to the playground! WHEW!

March Activities!

"Painting with Mya is fun!"

Painting fluffy clouds, like Little Cloud! Ask your
child if they can find Little Cloud in the sky. They
loved reading this book in class. We also have Little
Cloud on our bulletin board in class.

When you just can't get the brush to do what you
want, drop it and use your fingers! Good tip,
Hadley! Cloud painting was fun with white paint
and shaving creme!

More Scenes from Music, etc...

At the end of our class, we get a stamp! We have
to show we're ready by placing our hand on our
head!

More Music Class Fun!

Listening to the Farm Animals Sounds and matching
them to their place on the puzzle. Lots of fun. Ask your
child what they say!

Playing the xylophone in Music Class with Mrs. Elizabeth

Music Class in March ~ Shakey Eggs

Shake them behind your back...

Shake them up high...

Shake them up front...

The children love to use Mrs. Elizabeth's Shakey Eggs.
They shake them to "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star".
